But some instructors may ask you to bring in your own tools. Before you take a course, make sure you understand exactly what you are getting into.

Another place to learn how to make snowshoes is in books, magazines, and even online. You can do a search online or ask in your library if they know of any resources. Your main goal is to find instructions that will be easy for you to work with. Finding instructions that also include photos is also a good idea. Keep in mind that there are several different styles of traditional snowshoes so it will be a good idea to work with the style that suits you the best. When choosing instructions you can either pick randomly or choose to make something based off of the way a local Native American tribe did it. It is up to you.

Once you gather the materials and find the instructions, it is time to complete your project. Make sure you handle all the tools safely. If you are working with a child, make sure you do all the work that requires use of any tools. You wouldn’t want them to hurt themselves. They can use basic tools but make sure they stay away from anything that is sharp and dangerous. Use your judgment as to how far you want the kids to go with it. Once you complete the project it is time to enjoy the snowshoes! Make sure there is adequate snowfall. But if you followed the directions, they should work pretty well.
